What is Pupil Premium and Do I Qualify?

Pupil Premium is additional government funding provided to schools in England to support disadvantaged pupils and help close the attainment gap. Eligible pupils include those who:

  1. Receive or have received Free School Meals in the past six years (FSM ‘Ever 6’)
  2. Are in care or have been adopted from care
  3. Have parents serving in the armed forces

Heronsgate uses this funding to provide tailored support that meets each child’s individual needs. This may include academic interventions to boost progress, social and emotional support to nurture wellbeing, and enrichment activities designed to build confidence and self-esteem. We also ensure that all pupils have access to wider opportunities across school life, such as funding for educational trips or participation in clubs, helping every child to thrive both in and beyond the classroom.

We ensure that children who are registered as Pupil Premium receive support to reach their full potential.

Children eligible for Free School Meals may also receive a £1,480 grant through Pupil Premium. You can check eligibility here: Apply for free school meals - GOV.UK
