Attendance and Absences
The school aims to create a safe and inclusive environment where children feel happy and motivated to learn. Regular attendance is essential for children to benefit from the full range of educational and social opportunities. Parents are legally responsible for ensuring their child attends school every day.

Monitoring and Reporting
Attendance is monitored weekly. If your child’s attendance drops below 96% you will receive a letter encouraging you to work with the school to improve it. This is referred as being 'at risk of persistent absence’.
Attendance below 90% is persistent absence and a meeting with school will be arranged to set short term actions and to discuss support.
- Attendance is tracked daily/weekly
- Students are marked as present, absent, or attending an approved activity.
- Attendance data is shared with the local authority and the Department for Education (DfE).
Authorised Absences
- Only the school can decide if an absence is authorised.
- Parents must inform the school of the reason for absence by 9:30am (ideally by 8:40am).
- Valid reasons include medical appointments, religious observance, or exams.
- Medical appointments should be scheduled outside school hours whenever possible.

- Shopping trips
- Other unnecessary absences
